All timed programs that need to run should also be cancelled. Running programs one at a time would be better.
Temp files should be deleted as that would create more disk space. In order to clear the disk just run cleaner program in the windows.
After completing these tasks you can defragment the computer. You have to click on start, choose the program which has the name dfrg.msc. Then select the drive that you want to defrag. Thereafter click on the key called defrag button. Now the process of defragmentation starts.
